Ferienstimmung in North Yorkshire

Unser sommerliches Ferienziel war – einmal mehr – der Norden Yorkshires. Kabine für uns und Zwinger für unsere Hunde auf der Fähre von Rotterdam nach Hull gebucht. Bei und mit Freunden und deren sechs «Lockthorn-Labis» und unseren drei Labradoren genossen wir die intakte Natur in sattem Grün mit weissen, rosa und violetten Farbtupfern der typischen Moorpflanzen. Unter wärmender Sonne bei meist frischer Brise und gelegentlichem Regenschauer. So bietet dieses Naturparadies viel Auslauf auch für die Hundemeute, ohne dass Flora und Fauna gestört würden. Ferien ganz nach unserem Geschmack. Und dem der Vierbeiner.

Summer holiday in North Yorkshire – Having once more booked a cabin for us and kennels for our dogs on the ferry from Rotterdam to Hull in order to spend a holiday in North Yorkshire. At Whitethorn to be precise, with close friends. And once more, we fully enjoyed our time in their company and with their and our Labradors in the splendid countryside and the moors. The pictorial gives an impression of our walks with our dogs, it shows how working labs enjoy their training and it gives a glimpse of nature in this special part of the country.

Steter Wind verfrachtet das Wollgras über die ganze Heidelandschaft / Constant breeze carries cotton grass all over the moors
Mitten im Farn wartet unser Trio auf weitere Befehle / Our Labrador trio awaiting further orders
Dank gutem Geruchsinn finden die Labis das Dummy auch bei «full speed» im tiefen Gras … / With their sensitive nose Labradors can spot a dummy in the grass even when passing at high speed
… erfassen es mit «weichem Maul» … / … swiftly pick it up …
… und bringen es auf kürzestem Weg zurück zum «Meister» / … and deliver it in the hand of the handler
Oft sieht man die Hunde kaum im hohen Farn / Not easy to see the dogs in the midst of the fern
Auf Pfiff erfolgt eine «neue Ansage»: «Was willst Du?» / Hearing the whistle, look at the handler and get new directions
Gefunden und gebracht / Found it, retrieve it
Die Richtung stimmt / Sending in the right direction
Auch im Gelände und bei schneller Gangart behält Brandy die Zielrichtung auf grosse Distanz ein … / Brandy is keeping the correct line even at high speed and in good distance …
… oder hört auf «neue Ansage, Korrektur», … / … listens to the whistle, accepts the «new order» …
… um wieder schnell zur «Beute» zu finden / … and keeps going accordingly at good speed
